Piano Students receive honor ratings at local, district, state and regional competitions...

Congratulations to these students for their accomplishments and to their teacher, Carol. It takes dedication from the students and the student’s parents along with a competent teacher to succeed in competition.

Congratulations to Xavier Graves who was awarded First Prize and $750.00 in the Senior Division of the 2011 East Carolina University Young Artist Competition for Pre-College Pianists. The competition was held on March 12th, 2011 at the ECU Fletcher School of Music and was open to pianists ages 15-18 who were residents of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Congratulations to Xavier Graves who received Honorable Mention in the Senior Division of the 2011 MTNA Piano Performance Competition which was held on October 28, 2011 at Salem College, Winston Salem, NC. This was the third consecutive year that Xavier placed in this event.

At the North Carolina Music Teachers Association District Contest – Festival held at UNCG in March:

Jeffrey Li received a Superior Rating at the Senior A level.

Suzanne Zhou received a Superior Rating at the Senior A level.

Helen Ni received a Superior Rating at the Senior B level.

Wanlin Xie received an Excellent Rating at the Senior B level.

Daniel Xu received a Superior Rating at the Senior B level.

Students receiving Superior Ratings at the Junior B, Senior A, and Senior B levels advance to the State level of competition.

At the NCMTA State Contest – Festival held at Queens University of Charlotte in March:

Jeffrey Li received an Excellent Rating at the Senior A level.

Suzanne Zhou received a Superior Rating at the Senior A level.

Helen Ni received a Superior Rating at the Senior B level.

Daniel Xu received a Superior Rating at the Senior B level.

Superior ratings entitle these students to perform in honors recitals at the NCMTA State Convention in October at Salem College, Winston-Salem, NC.

National Music Certificate Program:

Congratulations to Kimberly Brown, Lori Brown, Maxine Dai, Sahana Giridharan, and Daniel Li who received First Class Honors on their 2011 National Music Certificate Program Practical Examinations held on June 4th and 5th in Cary, NC.

GYC Artistry Awards:

Congratulations to Xavier Graves who received first place and a $100.00 award in the instrumental division at the GYC Artistry Awards held at the Carolina Theater in March

Kimberly Brown received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Lori Brown received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Evelyn Chang received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Isabelle Chang received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Annie Li received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Angela Liu received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Maxine Dai received a Superior Rating at the Elementary B level.

Trisha Santanam received a Superior Rating at the Elementary B level.

Sahana Giridharan received a Superior Rating at the Intermediate A level.

Dharani Govindasamy received a Superior Rating at the Intermediate A level.
