Congratulations to Allen Xu who received First Honorable Mention at the Finals of the Peter Perret Youth Talent Search which was held on January 20, 2024 on the Wake Forest University campus. There were 44 Junior and Senior Level musicians from NC who competed in the Preliminaries of this competition on December 9, 2023 and only fifteen who advanced to the Senior Level Finals.
Each year the Winston Salem Symphony conducts a talent search to identify gifted and accomplished young musicians. Maestro Peter Perret, conductor emeritus of the Winston Salem Symphony, established the competition as a means of helping to develop young talent, and as a way of recognizing and supporting the teachers and families of musically gifted students.
