Piano Students receive honor ratings at local, district, state and regional competitions…

Congratulations to these students for their accomplishments and to their teacher, Carol. It takes dedication from the students and the student’s parents along with a competent teacher to succeed in competition.

Gateway Piano Studio Students Receive Highest Honors in 2018

Congratulations to piano students, Allen Xu, 12, Alexandra Deng, 10 and Karen Zhang, 11 and their teacher, Carol Fifield. Allen and Alexandra received Highest Honors, the top honor ratings, at the Junior B level and Karen Highest Honors at the Senior A level of both the North Carolina Music Teachers Association District Piano Performance Festival which was held in Greensboro on March 10, 2018 and the NCMTA State Piano Performance Festival which was held in Charlotte on March 24, 2018. Allen, Alexandra and Karen have been invited to perform at the Honors Recital during the 60th NCMTA State Conference which will be held at the University of the North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston Salem, NC in October of 2018.

At the North Carolina Music Teachers Association District Piano Performance Festival held at UNCG in March:

Evelyn Chang received Highest Honors at the Senior A level.

Jodi Jin received Highest Honors at the Senior A level.Timothy Vo received Highest Honors at the Senior A level.

Karen Zhang received Highest Honors at the Senior A level.

Alexandra Deng received Highest Honors at the Junior B level.

At the NCMTA State Piano Performance Festival held at Queens University of Charlotte in March:

Evelyn Chang received Merit at the Senior A level.

Timothy Vo received Merit at the Senior A level.

Karen Zhang received Highest Honors at the Senior A level.

Alexandra Deng received Highest Honors at the Junior B level.

Allen Xu received Highest Honors at the Junior B level. 

Students who received Highest Honors Ratings at the State Level are invited to perform in an honors recital at the 60th annual NCMTA State Conference which will be held  at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in October of 2018.

Anya Li received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Caroline Nguyen received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Sophia Nguyen received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Ellen Wang received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Caroline Nguyen and Sophia Nguyen received Superior Ratings at the Elementary A Level (Duet Ensemble).

Ellie Hu received a Superior Rating at the Elementary B level.

Olivia Li received a Superior Rating at the Elementary B level.

School Admissions:

Congratulations to Elaine Guo who has been admitted to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Music for the Fall of 2018. Her acceptance is as a High School Diploma candidate with a Piano concentration.

The Royal Conservatory Music Development Program
Congratulations to Hubert Liu!
Hubert was awarded the standing of First Class Honors this summer for the Level 10 Piano Examination of The Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. This is the highest level that can be achieved in this particular curriculum of the Music Development Program. Hubert’s high standing/grade affords him the opportunity to pursue the ARCT in Piano Performance of The Royal Conservatory Program if he and his teacher choose to do so. The RCM Certificate Program is a comprehensive and effectively sequenced program of music study and assessment,beginning with the Preparatory level(s), followed by levels 1 to 10, and concluding with the Associate Diploma of The Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT).
 Hubert will be entering the tenth grade this fall and has studied piano with Mrs. Fifield since he was nine years old.
