Piano Students receive honor ratings at local, district, state and regional competitions…

Congratulations to these students for their accomplishments and to their teacher, Carol. It takes dedication from the students and the student’s parents along with a competent teacher to succeed in competition.

At the North Carolina Music Teachers Association District Piano Performance Festival held at UNCG in March:

Evelyn Chang received Highest Honors at the Senior A level.

Annie Vo received Highest Honors at the Junior B level.

Timothy Vo received Highest Honors at the Junior B level.

Allen Xu received Merit at the Junior B level.

Karen Zhang received Highest Honors at the Junior B level.

Alexandra Deng and Karen Zhang received Highest Honors at the Elementary Level (Piano Duet Performance).

Claire Hua and James Hua received Highest Honors at the Junior Level (Piano Duet Performance).

Students earning a Highest Honors rating at Junior B, Senior A and Senior B levels advance to the State PPF.  

At the NCMTA State Piano Performance Festival held at Queens University of Charlotte in March:

Evelyn Chang received Merit at the Senior A level.

Annie Vo received Merit at the Junior B level.

Timothy Vo received Highest Honors at the Junior B level.

Karen Zhang received Highest Honors at the Junior B level.

Claire Hua and James Hua received Merit at the Junior Level (Piano Duet Performance).

Highest Honor ratings entitle these students to perform in honors recitals at the 59th annual NCMTA State Convention in October which will be held at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC.

Royal Conservatory Music Development Program:

Hubert Liu received First Class Honors: Level 10 Practical Examination.

At the GMTA Solo and Ensemble Festival held at UNCG in March:

Ellie Hu received a Superior Plus Rating at the Elementary A level.

Cindy Wang received a Superior Rating at the Elementary A level.

Olivia Li received a Superior Rating at the Elementary B level.

Stephen Yang received a Superior Rating at the Elementary B level.

Urte Dargyte received an Superior Rating at the Intermediate A level.

Alexandra Deng received a Superior Rating at the Intermediate A level.

Claire Hua received a Superior Rating at the Intermediate A level.

Kevin Xu received an Superior Rating at the Intermediate A level.

Michelle Yang received a Superior Rating at the Intermediate A level.

Alexandra Deng and Karen Zhang received Superior Ratings at the Intermediate A Level (Duet Ensemble).

James Hua received a Superior Rating at the Intermediate B level.

Congratulations to Evelyn Chang who was selected

 to be in the most advanced group “The Chopin Group” at the UNCG Summer Music Camp July 10-14, 2017. She was also selected to perform at the Friday July 14 Evening Recital which showcased the best piano students at the camp.

 Evelyn will be entering the eight grade this fall and has studied piano with Mrs. Fifield since she was 5 years old.

Gateway Piano Studio Students Receive Highest Honors in 2017

 Congratulations to piano students, Timothy Vo,10 and Karen Zhang, 10 and their teacher, Carol Fifield. Timothy and Karen received Highest Honors, the top honor ratings, at the Junior B level of both the North Carolina Music Teachers Association District Piano Performance Festival which was held in Greensboro on March 11, 2017 and the NCMTA State Piano Performance Festival which was held in Charlotte on March 25, 2017. Timothy and Karen have been invited to perform at the Honors Recital during the 59th NCMTA State Conference which will be held at Elizabeth City State University, October 5 – 8 of 2017.
