Piano Students receive honor ratings at local, district, state and regional competitions…

Congratulations to these students for their accomplishments and to their teacher, Carol. It takes dedication from the students and the student’s parents along with a competent teacher to succeed in competition.

At the GMTA Solo and Ensemble Festival held at UNCG in March:

Wanlin Xie received  a Superior Plus Rating.

Helen Ni received a Superior Rating.

Jeffrey Li received a trophy, having received a Superior Rating for two consecutive years.

At the North Carolina Music Teachers Association District Contest – Festival held at UNCG in March:

Jeffrey Li received a Superior rating at the Junior B level.

Helen Ni received a Superior rating at the Senior A level.

Students receiving Superior Ratings at the Junior B, Senior A, and Senior B levels advance to the State level of competition.

At the NCMTA State Contest – Festival held at Queens University of Charlotte in April:

Jeffrey Li received an Excellent rating at the Junior B level.

Helen Ni received a Superior rating at the Senior A level.

Helen’s accomplishment entitles her to perform at an honors recital at the NCMTA State Convention this fall.

Other accomplishments:

Congratulations to 9 year old Daniel Li who received First Class Honors with Distinction on his Level 2 National Music Certificate Program Practical Examinations held on December 5, 2009 in Cary, NC. (This is the highest rating in the grading classification.)

Congratulations to Xavier Graves who was selected as a finalist for the Peter Perret Youth Talent Search 2009. The preliminary phase of this statewide competition consisted of forty four contestants. The finals consisted of eight contestants. Xavier performed Concerto No. 1, Op. 15: Mvt. I [Allegro con brio] by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Congratulations to Xavier Graves who was an honorable mention winner of the 2008-2009 Greensboro Youth Symphony Concerto Competition. As a result of this honor, Xavier has been invited by the Greensboro Symphony Guild to perform at their September Meeting.

Congratulations to Xavier Graves who was awarded Honorable Mention at the state level of the 2009 MTNA-Yamaha Senior Piano Competition

Congratulations to the studio’s piano duo, Entrada! (Xavier Graves and Eric Wang). Xavier and Eric performed a 30 minute program of piano duet music on March 20 in the McCain Gallery located on the lower level of Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh, NC. This took place as a preliminary event to the North Carolina Symphony‘s evening concert. The duo was very warmly received.

Xavier and Eric were invited to perform in this forum known as Ovations! as a result of their participation in the 2008 NC Symphony Concerto Competition.
