Karen Zhang began her piano studies at Gateway Piano Studio with Carol Fifield in August of 2016. She has made tremendous progress as a pianist and musician during this time. We are very proud of her hard work, dedication and achievements.
In 2017 Karen received Highest Honors at the Junior B level of the District and State NCMTA Piano Performance Festival. In 2018 she received Highest Honors at the Senior A level of the District and State PPF. In June 2020 she received “First Class Honours with Distinction,” the highest designation of marks, for “The Royal Conservatory” Level 7 Practical Examination and scored 100% on The Royal Conservatory Level 8 Theory Exam.
Karen attends middle school at the Academy at Lincoln in Greensboro, NC and likes to ice skate, draw and read. Her favorite books include the Harry Potter series, the Artemis Fowl series and The Lunar Chronicles. Karen loves studying and playing the piano. Her favorite composers are Bela Bartok and Ludwig van Beethoven.
